I painted this en plein air a couple of weeks ago in Taumarere in the Bay of Islands, New Zealand.
Sometimes simple subjects make the best plein air paintings. It's always a good idea to simplify the scene you are painting when you are painting outdoors.
I absolutely love the beauty of these pine trees especially when they're juxtaposed again the green hills so characteristic of the Northland region of New Zealand.
Pine Trees, Northland, 8" x 10", oil on linen panel, painted outdoors en plein air.
