Making small oil studies is a great way to practice the main skills of painting. It is a good idea to paint small on paper that is primed with an acrylic base because it is an affordable and convenient support. I went down to my local park to paint small color studies using oil paint.
I wanted to push color to make more the image more brilliant than real life. The golden refracted color of the river bed is what drew me to paint this. Sometimes even painting rocks can be fun.
