Happy Sunday to everyone with one of my favorite quote!
Michelangelo is one of the best sculptor of every times, so, when he said that a sculptor has to discover the statue inside the stone, I say "Yes, I agree!".
I've always thought that we can learn so much things from every great Maestro and so I repeat this quote to myself as a mantra.
When I have a piece of wood in my hands, I don't see just a piece of wood, but I see (in my mind) the figure inside it and it's fantastic! You have to try! Just to leave imagination free to work and ta-dah: everything is in front of you! It's like to watch the clouds in the sky and play to look the shapes.
You can work on three-dimensional idea and you can remove materials (when you carve the wood, for example) and after you can add some different materials (I add metal legs to my freaky house, for example).
You can create new creatures, new scenes, new worlds or simply give a shape to some thoughts! Isn't cool?
Well, now you can understand because I love to work on my pieces of wood, right? ;)
And about painting?
Paintings (or sketches, or drawings) gives me the opportunity to imagine something that I can't create in three dimension, because I don't have enough skills, enough materials/tools or simply because is impossible to create what I want ^_^
At the end, I think I love every tecniques that gives me the opportunity to explore the "freaky worlds" (and also the not freaky worlds ^_^) that my imagination generates ^_^
See ya soon
