The first time I watched a performance of David Bowie in real was about in the 1987, during The Glass Spider tour. He was in Florence and I was 16 years old. I convinced my mom to leave me to go to the concert (with my uncle, sure!) and so I went there. It was te first concert/show I watched in real and, as you can understand, it was fantastic!
I was so excited and I placed myself under the stage (my uncle was no happy to stay so close to the stage, because there were a lot of people there) and when he came down from the "sky" to start the show I was crying because I was so happy to be there!
Yesterday, while my hubby was teaching to his painting/drawing class, I decided to exercise my hands making a portrait and so I took my photo book of David Bowie (a photo book that I bought about 30 years ago ^_^) and I sketched the face of him.
You have to know that I love to listen music while I'm drawing or painting, but I use to listen the songs turning up the volume, so I use the earphone ^_^ From Space Oddity to Changes, from Rebel Rebel to the oter (many) beautiful songs, I heard his voice in my ears all the time I was sketching his face.
It's my little homage to an artist that make me feel so good in my life and that, when I was a young girl, helped me to understand that we can be eclectic, extravagant, different from the others making something fantastic!
In the following video you can see the show of the Glass Spider Tour and you can understand how I felt myself, a young girl 16 years old in the 1987:
Thanks so much, David (Bowie)Robert Jones!
See ya later
