When I was little I was taught to always be thankful. Thankful for the things that we have. Thankful for the food that we are about to eat. I was always very thankful about everything. As I was growing up I have observe that the Filipinos grew up the same way I did . We never back down from anything. And no matter how hard life hits us whether it’s a typhoon, earthquake other things in life , Filipinos always find reasons to be thankful even at the most chaotic moments in our lives.
As homage to my fellow Filipino who had their fair share of hardships and blessings. I made a piece entitled Salamat po ama.
Acrylic on Canvas , 91.4cm x91.4cm
This painting was the centerpiece during my 2nd One man show held at the GSIS Museum and it is also featured In the book Art Handbook Philippine Artist. I also brought this piece on my 3rd solo show in Germany last year.
My 2nd one man show opening with Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Vu Tu, Consul Amelia Ablaza, National Treasurer Roberto Tan, Finance Undersecretary Gil Beltran, Budget Undersecretary Laura Pascua, Assistant Foreign Secretary Leslie Baha, Dr. Marianna Vertanen-Trias of World Health Organization.
This piece is a testament to the Filipino spirit that no matter how hard life can be there is always a reason to smile and be thankful for.
