Welcome to the world of Spotty Production!
Bryan Imhoff here, of @bryan-imhoff “fame.” (Ok, ok, fame may just mean a dozen or so people will recognize some of my artwork…) For a few years now, I’ve been the head (and usually only) employee of the Spotty Production company. It’s my own little brand of comics and illustration that I’m looking to bring to the Steemit community. You’re reading its first post now.
Ok, so if you’re @bryan-imhoff… why a second account?
Nothing nefarious here, I promise. In the past I’ve often separated my content across different sites and social media groups. My own personal blog will feature behind the scenes material, reviews of art tools and books, as well as tutorials. @SpottyProduction is the more “corporate” site, geared toward actual releases and news about upcoming projects. It’s also important for future growth, as I hope that someday I’ll have more than just myself working for this fine studio, and the @SpottyProduction account will feature the work of many wonderful artists.
I know that multiple accounts, “sock puppets” and the like can be controversial in some ways. I just want to be open and transparent about this and assure that I’ll be keeping things on the straight and narrow. I can think of a few ground rules off the bat. These accounts will refrain from voting on each other’s posts. The accounts will never simultaneously participate in any contests or steem redistribution style posts. Re-steeming will be kept to a minimum… Following one account will not be a de facto follow of both, where you’re spammed by the same content twice.
Hmmm, you seem ok so far, what’s this Spotty Production then?
To date, Spotty Production consists of 3 different “intellectual properties” by that Bryan Imhoff fellow we keep referring to. They range from being “in development” to having been previously published as comics and webcomics in past years. Following @SpottyProduction will send them all through your feed at a measured pace. Stories run the gamut from a geeky humor webcomic, to fantasy action/adventure and horror. The basic gist of the studio can be summed up in the…
...SPOTTY PRODUCTION VALUES
Quality.
Spotty Production is committed to quality. Heard that before? Well so have we. The difference is we are committed to OUR quality. We provide OUR best, not THE best. It's an important distinction. Spotty Production is exactly what it says. Our output is uneven and sporadic. Spotty Production is tongue in cheek and self deprecating... but despite our humor and slacker ways we do care. We care enough to put our creations and ourselves in front of the world and say, "Meh. It's what I got." Perfection is paralyzing. Ego is destructive. Doing the best you can at any given moment and always moving forward, that's quality.
Integrity.
Spotty Production is honest. We call ourselves Spotty Production. That's honest. We also endeavor to treat our collaborators, clients, customers, community, fans, and friends fairly and with respect. No joke.
Fun.
Two Muffins were baking in an oven. One muffin turns to the other and says, "Holy Shit it's hot in here!" The other muffin says, "Holy Shit... A talking muffin!"
All right, I’m on board for now… I guess… What’s next?
I envision great things for Steem. I feel it’s an amazing time to grow my little studio endeavor along with this new platform. Over the next few years I can imagine this new technology adapting to provide the services that Kickstarter, Patreon, Fiverr, and Facebook currently bring to the comics creating community. Fundraising, promotion, distribution, collaboration, and freelance hiring all in one ecosystem.
In the weeks and months to come, I’ll be re-releasing content that is no longer available by posting pages here on Steemit, and subsequently building out new websites and producing brand new content! I’m here for the followers, the feedback, and yes, the rewards. (Gotta be honest and transparent!) I’m not a greedy man, but I want to make art a full time career, and be able to pay others for their creative works as well. Your votes and support are my test marketing and fundraising. Content that gains traction will be much more likely to be continued, and you’ll be contributing to one of the first comic companies on the blockchain! So please vote, comment, share, and follow.
See you soon with our first Steemit comic release… “Appetite for Distraction!”
