Cowry or cowrey, plural cowries, are sea snails. I love working with these shells! They are so smooth and so beautiful!
Did you know? In old Italian language cowrie was called "porcellana", because it does look like porcelain.
Cowrie shells are used in many jewelry designs, especially tribal. I am a different type of artist, more unconventional.
Here are two creations that I designed and made with cowrie shells found by me on the beaches of St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
This is a bangle bracelet. It took me a while to collect same size cowries, 12 of them.
It came out pretty cool. I used natural copper wire and crystals to add some glam. A girl needs her sparkle, right?
And here is a pendant. I think it's very cute. A crab with cowrie claws!
It can be worn on any chain or cord, like a slide.
I hope you enjoyed my pieces. Trying to showcase my talents :)
