My hometown is kind of a unique place. First, the county we are in is known as the "Dimple Of The Universe" http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~tnmaury/history.htm
The town itself is known as the Mule Capital of the World. Yeah...I know right now you are getting a little bit jealous that you don't live here too. Actually our area is one of the fastest growing areas in the country. Back in the 1800's there was a yearly mule auction and that grew into a big celebration with a parade, a beauty contest with a mule queen and interesting traditions such as the ever popular Liar's Contest. I even met my husband at a Mule Day Parade, but that's a whole other story.
The newest tradition is Mule Town Music Fest which is getting ready to have its third annual celebration. Being just 45 miles south of Nashville, you never know who will show up. Last year Old Crow Medicine Show made a surprise appearance and there are always national and local talents galore.
I am working on a series of mule pictures for the event. I will be there selling my wares and soaking in the ambiance.
Meet Matilda Mule. She has a sweet lilting voice with a folksy style.
Here is the video of the process which I did on my iPad using the Procreate app.
I printed the design out and attached it to a canvas on which I painted a matching background with some little mandala motifs on the corners.
Thanks for stopping by!
