I was taking a modern photo out of an antique picture frame that I had inherited from my aunt and uncle. I found this photo of an unknown couple that appeared to be about a century old. As usual for that time period, they weren’t smiling. As a matter of fact, they looked pretty sour...at least she did. He almost seemed to have a glimmer in his eyes.
I started to imagine them as an odd couple, so different that people would wonder how they got together, but for some odd reason they were drawn to each other. That’s where I got the theme “opposites attract.” Since I had no idea who they were, I felt no remorse about painting and altering the picture.
I painted around the background and then I added some little head adornments for them both. I wrote in a kind of whimsical lettering, “Their hearts are drawn together from the start.” Then I added the words, “Opposites Attract” in Scrabble letters. Then I painted a frame to match the style.
I think this would make a quirky valentine for some odd couple. Do you know someone who comes to mind?
Thanks for stopping by!
