I’m currently exploring a series of art that would be promoting African art and artworks that do not have actual humans faces in them. I think we’re slowly leaving the era of drawing faces as people lately tend to vibe more with symbolism, culture, spirituality and meanings rather than just faces and emotions. Personally, I have found that i prefer symbolic arts than portraits as it may seem weird hanging other people’s faces on my wall if I didnt connect to them in some way. While i am still gonna be making faces, i feel there should be more to a face and I love how mystery, culture and spirituality that masks and masquerades symbolise. I would there fore be creating a couple artworks in these series and so just started off today with this sketch of an Eyo masquerade with a baby dressed as Eyo masquerade on her back. The Eyo Masqurade is predominately a Lagos state masquerade and I would be talking more about it in the future. For now, just enjoy the sketch and anticipate something huge. Thanks for checking it out.
