Welcome to my first #bazilgetscreative post. This is the tag I will use to showcase my artwork and creative projects.
Today i'm going to share a piece from the current series I'm working on. This series was started during a particulary difficult and lonely phase in my life, and heavily encompasses the themes of isolation, loneliness, and feeling like an outsider. However you will also find as the series progresses there is also hope, self acceptence, and beauty.
As with all my paintings I start with a basic sketch.
I'll show you the finished piece for the sketch on the left in a later post, but for now we're working with the sketch on the right.
After I have a sketch I'm happy with, I transfer the outline onto canvas (sometimes copying freehand, though in this case I traced the original drawing using carbon paper) and then paint over it using oil paints.
As you can see I decided to leave the face blank instead of staying true to the original drawing. I felt the facelessness better conveyed the mood I was going for.
for the backround I choose to contrast the blue with a bright textured red. I used multiple shades of red paint and applied it to the canvas with a palate knife to get the texture. I ended up using 2 whole tubes of red paint in this!
And here you have the finished product! Let me know what you think in the comments :)
