Interesting post - and well explained. We are kindred spirits: I studied witchcraft at University in my Anthro class. Fascinating subject. I didn't come to this at the spur of the moment - had been studying on my own since I was a teenager. That, and Mythology, which was even earlier, hanging out at my grandfathers library as soon as I could read. The strangest thing though, without instructions I could read the German script Fraktur just fine, and later even Kurrent handwriting (my mother still used it).
