Good morning Steemians, today I wanted to share a vintage gas station design in progress. The geometry is being modeled in 3D using the software “Rhinoceros.” Screen-shots below show progress modeling from different angles and phases of rendering.
The concept and specific geometry for the gas station was submitted by , who requested that STEEMTOWN include a vintage “Gulf” outlet. I really was drawn to the small-town aesthetic of this image and the surrounding entourage of vehicles that I attempted to represent below...
Here are a few snapshots of the station in progress, shown in plan view, perspective and elevation...
Below, here is the near-final rendering that will be included in the Town project...
What’s STEEMTOWN?
STEEMTOWN is an ongoing community art project powered through your comments and ideas. Each week, a new phase of buildings will be added to the Town derived from the photographs, quotes, stories and feedback. For more, here is a link to the introductory post of STEEMTOWN and the project mission.
An Exercise in Building Community
Through this project - I hope to engage in a broader dialogue with fellow Steemians about their own sense of place and placemaking. These types of game-structured conversations are a fascinating way of learning more about what a person defines as his or her “community.” It’s a way of us connecting to one another through the geographies we are deeply tied to and knowledgeable of. In a world of links, likes, upvotes and IP addresses, it’s exciting to find ways of bridging the digital divide and connecting with those on the other side of the screen.
Stay tuned for Phase 2 of STEEMTOWN later this week…
