Hello,
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Wams, I’m a visual artist from Bucharest, Romania. I was born and raised in Romania until I was 15 years old. I grew up with the first generation of graffiti writers here in Bucharest, so I started my activity as a graffiti artist in 2012. Between 2012 and 2015 was the time when I was involved and I put my mark on the streets and trains. At that time it wasn’t really easy to do it, people didn’t understand it and they and consider it only a vandal act as it was of course, but easily it started to come alive, as the years passed.
Back in 2015 I went to Spain, where I started to study the art so I left back the street art and I’ve put everything into art, especially abstract art, So after 2 years I did my first exhibition.
I will tell you more stories as I’m going to post.
I will begin my activity with a retrospective of what I have created since 2006 until the present.
Below I will leave you a statement and a text written by a curator from Bucharest. Thank you, and I hope you will enjoy my intimate world!
Artist statement
The form basis of my work is a process, a permanent study that grows organically. All created forms are connected to the telluric energy and vibrant movements that are moving through them and turns them into a fluid field. Agate, the mineral body in the center of my paintings, arises in the deep by overlapping concentric layers through a slow process
crystallization. The solid initially undergoes the rhythmic changes and develops over time and space.
My paintings combine the figurative with the symbolic, capturing different aspects of the human body and transporting the viewer into a landscape full of color and mystery. The characters come to life and transforms into a continuous motion that invites meditation and contemplation.
These figures represent the evolution of primordial forms that coagulates into a strong and arise as deepen, take shape and volume.
Wams Verrucko
Wams Verruckos’ paintings are situated in the abstract art, an area close to the lenticular body which creates abstract objects, similar to the images seen through a microscope. His world is intense and full of vivid colors , applied to the need of an in depth study, required by the forms, structures and wave formalism with illusions of depth that creates a large bump of animal-vegetable-mineral bodies that run the sequences.
The stylistic tradition and modern oil painting techniques are short-circuited through thorough research, detail subject, and the whole is deducted, pictured in disparate parts.
Seriality of work and the maneuvered small differences at the level of detail, create a great body, finite universe, inner world captured by observation and analysis.
