Ah, giant spiders; they are a common foe in fantasy lore. In real life, I tend to like spiders as they eat up all the pests, so I feel like they get a bit of a bad wrap in fantasy and folklore. however, there is no ambiguity here - these critters are out to make a meal of these adventurers.
