Hello everyone! It has been five days since my last travel updat, now I am back! This time, I would be sharing to you all the art process of a small gouache watercolor painting that I made. This one is very memorable to me because the coffee shop that I would be featuring and the date when this photo was taken was very memorable to me.
This artwork is just small, a 6x6 inches artwork on a watercolor pape, but it took some quite time for me to finish it because the details are small and I really do not have a detail/line brush fit for it.
You can also see the colors that I used for this one. Most of these are not premade or fresh from the palette, but rather were mixed from different colors available on my Himi Gouache Palette.
As you can see, I secured the watercolor paper with washi tape fish. This is to secure the artwork by avoiding painting beyond the borders. The lines are also thin since I used a mechanica, pencil with .5 lead.
I painted then the wooden chairs and tables with red brown paint. The gouache has been watered down so that I could still correct some other areas instead I commit a mistake in painting. The more opaque the paint is, the harder it is to correct.
Then I started painting one of the drinks with cream color. I did not necessarily want to use the realistic approach since for one, I am not fond of it. Another thing is I am not really a realist painter since the technique would consume a lot of my time.
Fastforward, I also painted some areas of the artwork including the other drink. I was actually drinking a strawberry frappe while my date was drinking a ... I forgot what it was. Hahaha! I am sorry.
Since the floor was grey, I painted the floor with a watered down grey paint.
Now, this is the hardest part, painting the straw. I am sorry though because I was not using my metal straws. I totally forgot to bring it with me. Next time, when going out, I would have it inside my bag and use it instead of having a single-use straw. Such a waste and hazzard for the environment!
I guess it very visible now to you all the progress of my work, right? I actually was redoing my paint on the straw a couple of times because my right hand were pretty shakey that time.
The plastic bottle container for the drinks were quite hard too since there were different hues of white involved, but I decided to stick on the idea that this would just be a simple illustration.
At the back, I decided to paint the chairs with darker hue of brown. I also painted the fork. Oh yeah! It also took me few minutes to paint the fork since it is really small and it has this curve that I am totally having a hard time painting.
And voila! I am done with this one. As you can see, there are only few colors that are involved. I avoided using pastel colors (which I usually do) for this one. I was trying out some other palette tones.
I hope you learned something from me today. Have a great day sweethearts!
