Entry for Artstorm Contest #4 - Day 2 - fruit - "Pineapple and the Image of the Filipina"

Hello friends! This is my entry for the second day of the contest Artstorm hosted by Hive account@deemarshall. We have to make a quick picture of anything related to the theme fruits.

Instead of just going ahead and drawing a fruit, I immediately thought of the famous legend of the pineapple here in the Philippines. It talks about a girl named Pina who was spoiled by her mother and was cursed with a thousand eyes (thus, the pineapple). This legend shows the image of laziness which is always frowned upon everywhere you go.

However, the image of the pineapple reminded me also of the hard work and craftsmanship of Filipinas in the province of Aklan, Philippines. Every leaf of the pineapple is carefully scraped, producing a kind of fiber later to be woven into durable cloth. I believe that this culture is something we could be proud of and should be preserved for the future generations to keep.

All I used was a gel pen and a sheet of paper.
