Hello all, I've been away from Steemit for a bit. Preparing for one of the busiest summers to date. I did manage to get some photos together for this post that I thought would be worthy content.
I give you the hillbilly moonshiner chainsaw carved from a single piece of white pine.
He stands 6ft tall and was custom made for a local business. Below I'll share some progress pictures from start to finish.
I started with a large log stood up and cut a flat side to draw on. This was just to get a feel for what I was about to carve. To step back from it and see if I could squeeze it in, or rather out of the log. Normally I'll just freestyle it but I don't carve many moonshiners.
He needed to be sitting on a stump so I was careful and stepped back a few times as I was cutting.
He was starting to take shape.
Found all but his right show at this point. End of day 1
Beginning of day 2 as the sun rose
Was just about done with the saw, all that was left was some lines on the barrel.
The backside
Sanded slightly
Torched him then sanded again
He looks like he's had a little too much moonshine
Gave him some paint for contrast.
Added varnish to complete.

Here's a walk around gif
My client was very happy with the result.
The entire carving process was also filmed but I need to edit the footage and prepare a video for which I'll save for a post on Dtube.
I hope you enjoy seeing what I saw, if so feel free to upvote and resteem. I love what I do and I'm happy to share here on Steemit.
Thanks for looking
