The Old Beast hit a new mileage milestone recently. It seemed like it took forever to get from 150,000 miles to 160,000... maybe because it has been spending a lot of time under the wrench this last year???
With these new axles I out under it, this truck feels like a new truck. The turning radius is of this new front axle makes parking and pulling a trailer around town a breeze. I have a feeling this truck is going to be driven a lot more with the improved ride comfort and handling. Being that it is a 1997 Ford F-350 with a 7.3 liter Powerstroke Diesel under the hood with a ZF5 manual transmission.... 160,000 miles ain’t nothin’
This 7.3 Powerstroke engine and the old 12 valve Cummins have been known to go 1,000,000 miles without a complete rebuild. Granted stuff wears out and you replace it but I am talking the engine itself. So as long as I can keep the cab and the rest of the truck together, it looks like I am going to have a lot of miles sitting in the driverseat of the Ol’ Beast ahead of me.
