According to vedic astrology, the 6th, 8th and 12th houses are known as dusthanas or houses of suffering. These houses are associated with negative aspects of life such as enemies, debts, diseases, accidents, losses, death, etc. Therefore, any planet placed in these houses is generally considered to be afflicted or weakened.
However, there are some exceptions and modifications to this rule, depending on the nature and position of the planet, the sign and lord of the house, the aspects and conjunctions of other planets, and the overall strength of the horoscope.
For example, some planets are more comfortable or less afflicted in certain dusthana houses than others. Jupiter and Ketu are the natural rulers of the 12th house and they can give spiritual benefits and liberation if well placed there.
Saturn, the planet of hardship and discipline, can do well in the 6th house, as it can overcome enemies, debts and diseases with perseverance and hard work. Mars, the planet of courage and action, can also do well in the 6th house, as it can defeat enemies and protect health with its energy and vitality. Rahu, the planet of illusion and ambition, can do well in the 8th house, as it can give sudden gains, occult powers and longevity if well placed there.
However, these are general guidelines and the actual effects of a planet in a dusthana house will depend on many other factors as per traditional astrology.
According to KP Vedic astrology a planet gives the result of the nakshatra lord and the planet itself becomes the source of it and the sublord gives us the quality of the results.
So as per the dictum of KP Vedic astrology the planets in 6, 8 and 12th house do not matter much as its significance is more important.
Suppose the planet does have the 6,8 and 12th house significances of a cuspal sublord, then one need to study and see if it is getting connected with some other houses to give good results.
For example if the 6th cuspal sublord is signifying 6 and 12th house, then it signify job in foreign country as one of the good positive out come of the combination.
A person will inherit property when there is a connection of 8th cuspal sublord is with 4th house along with 2nd and 11th house.
The 12th cuspal sublord planet when signifying 12th and 3rd house give foreign settlement.
The 12th house itself is the house of investments and so a person with good combination can utilize the 12th house by doing investments and make good returns.
Here I have discussed only the positive outcome as mostly people are aware of the negatives only about these houses when they start their basic astrology learning. But as the advance then they learn how the bad houses also can good results for certain events in life.
In a nut shell a planet placed in the 6, 8th or 12th house, cannot be considered as affliction as it all depend on the event and how is that planet supporting that event, if in positive or negative way.
