Atlanta proved to be a city of great opportunity. Everyone knows how much I talk about Texas and more specifically Houston. The truth is, Atlanta left a mark on me that is undeniable. I may not be able to fully explain it in words until this entire trip processes. They say that the quickest way to a man's heart is his stomach and that is exactly how
Atlanta found it's way to my heart.
Porter Beer Bar
Porter Beer Bar in Little Five Points is a small dive that requires you to traverse your way through a maze of entertaining panhandlers. The destination is worth the journey. I must start by saying that because the word "bar" is in the name, does not mean that it is a bar. It simply conveys the level of beer selection. They are open to all ages all the time. Their menu is just too long to describe. I ordered the Watermelon Funk Sour Ale on draft by 21st Amendment Brewery. Sour, tart, with a hint of watermelon. I was lagniapped 2 shots of whiskey as well. It's ok if you do not know what lagniappe means. In an effort to get a feel for the culinary prowess of ATL, I ordered some food. The one that stood out the most was the PORN DOG . This dish boasts a house smoked kabano sausage that exceeds 12 inches. It's topped with seasonal giardiniera that deserves is own round of applause. I accompanied my dog with a side of Belgian Fries. They were not fresh cut, therefore there's little that I care to say. All in all, this place is a must see for anyone in Atlanta.
JCT. Kitchen & Bar
This is a GRAND FINALE. JCT. Kitchen & Bar is located in Atlanta's Westside Provision's District. It appears to be an old industrial area that has been re-developed and gentrified. This stop was recommended by our photographer and I will be forever grateful. We walked in wearing all white and some of us with dirt stains from our photoshoot. We were well received and treated beyond our expectations. Dining experiences start and end with service and this place understood that concept. Someone's heart and soul is put into everything that comes out of that kitchen, including the kids dishes. I won't make you wait much longer...
We started off with
Deviled Eggs
AND
Parmesan Cheese Fries
The first bite into those benton's cured ham topped deviled eggs set the expectations which would be exceeded.
had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich
CYNTHIA ZUNIGA had the fried chicken sandwich
the side of elote on the cobb made me want to drive back to Texas and slap my momma.
My dish was not the greatest because I make it often but it was still delicious.
Shrimp & Grits
The Kids Tho
Look at that GRILLED CHEESE with haricot verts.
Tell me why his garnish is popcorn?
Chick Tenders made me tear up
