I recently began writing a series of posts about my life walking the edge with Australia's sub-cultures in one of the most famous houses of ill-repute! The legendary Gatwick Private Hotel.
Sadly The Gatwick has now closed. I will never forget the highs, lows, laughter, and pain I saw there! 😘
Some of the people were a pure joy for me!
During my time at The Gatty I became a solid member of the community, fell in love with the Twins (who you can meet in the video at the bottom of this post), picked up thousands of used needles and cleaned a lot of dirty toilets.
One day during my cleaning of the outside courtyard I found a wedge of diary pages... I know how important these things are - especially to the woman who wrote them! - I can tell it's a woman!
Perhaps these pages were thrown out of the window by a jealous lover or someone in dire pain...
I tried to return the pages but was unsuccessful. The Twins and community believed I should keep them and publish them as an insight into the sometimes tragic, wonderful and sadly closed Gatwick...
So I publish this here without the author's consent but the communities permission. It is an insight into the human heart, pain and drug addiction.
An Important Preface!
It is important to remember that these notes are often written from deep pain and addiction. It is equally important to remember many of the criticisms we dish out to others we are really levelling at ourselves!
These notes are often written from the depths of drug addiction, desperation and despair! They are human!
I publish these here as a window into these depths of humanity and to give solace to those who are experiencing the same pain.
A major topic of my discussions, during my months helping the amazing Twins who ran the building for decades - was that of human Dignity! I believe compassion grows dignity in others and dignity grows compassion!
I thank my luck that I have never had drug addictions and feel very sorry for those that do! If anything these notes are honest and can express what I cannot!
Notes From The Gatwick 4:
"... how can you see into my eyes like open doors, leading you down into my core, leaving so numb? And then I soar - my spirit sleeping somewhere cold until you find me there. In me it will hold. Will I ever have respect for him - because he has respect for you."
"The problem that comes from allowing love to die, love can't fix itself, and each day I worry about his true feelings - but I won't give up, because I don't know how the difference..." - Unknown, The Gatwick, 2016
