After publishing sort of a comeback-post a few days ago, I was really surprised by the amount of positive reactions. As I have mentioned a lot of hiking and training for a mountain marathon as one of the reasons for my absence, I think it is only fair to at least share same of the best pictures I took in the Austrian mountains this summer ;)
Let’s start with a picture where I look at one of the most popular mountains around here, the mighty Traunstein.
The above picture was taken on the way to the Katzenstein, from which top you have an amazing view at the bigger Traunstein.
The Traunstein is probably the most common motive on my smartphone’s camera roll, as it can be seen on so many hikes. Here I look at the giant from the mountain lake Laudachsee.
Of course I also climbed the Traunstein himself - However, the long hike wasn’t blessed with a nice view at the top. Pretty much the only thing I could see besides the cross at the top was fog.
A few days later I hiked up to the Red Wall and fortunately had a little bit more luck with the weather conditions.
From the mountains top you get a great view at the much larger Warscheneck, which is still on my To-Do list this year.
The highest mountain I have climbed this year (so far) was the Great Priel with 2515 meters above sea level. I really would love to give you a great view from it’s top - But the weather was once against not on my side.
Still a trip I will always gladly look back at - the atmosphere was quite magic.
There was only one time when we actually hd to stop our hiking ambitions due to bad weather - A few weeks ago when and me wanted to climb the Great Phyrgas.
Fortunately, we will travel to South-Tirol tomorrow, some big mountains are awaiting us there. So far, cheers!
