Autism is more and more common and extreme. It was rare and fairly mild when I was a child in the 1960's. Obviously, something we humans are doing is causing it to express. This is not a debate or rant about what is causing autism. I am asking if there is a benefit that balances out with the deficit of autism. If autism is the bad side effect, is there a good side effect? If autism makes people LESS able to function and interact, are some people affected that makes them MORE able to function and interact?
If there is some positive aspect to the causal effect then, I am not aware of it. And, if that is the case then, whatever causes autism is not worth maintaining especially considering how challenging we have made our lives as compared to how we lived prior to agriculture, prior to industry, prior to internet and other technologies.
