On Thursday morning I was up at 5:30AM and got my post up. I got the kitchen cleaned up and then started the china cabinet move. I got the table and chairs out of the way then unloaded the cabinet onto the table.
Next I had to find places for the plants in the window to the right of the cabinet because it doesn’t fit between the shelves. Once that shelf was dropped down, I slid the cabinet into place and reloaded it.
It was time for a rest.
After resting a while, I got up and got set up to do sauerkraut. Once that was done, I went upstairs to the attic and collected all the stuff to come down. Then I rested until my #1 intern arrived about 10:30AM.
The 2 split heads ended up at 14.3 lbs salvaged and the big head weighed 18.75 lbs in from the garden. He salvaged 11.45 lbs from that one.
She carried down all the stuff and started setting the tree up. I started testing lights. She would get a tier of branches fluffed then put the lights on before doing the next tier.
All the strings were tested and repaired before being put away in January. But I always test them again. The brand new strings were fine but I had to replace up to 7 bulbs a string on most of the others.
Once we’d finished the 3rd section, I had to go help with sauerkraut. And while I was doing that my #1 intern fell asleep on the little couch.
I got the lights on the top section but they were probably plugged in wrong as I was very tired. The lower section had an extension cord issue that was easily fixed. But I was too tired to deal with the top.
We ended up with 25.75 lbs of sauerkraut. My helper friend got the kitchen cleaned up and the floor washed, then left early. My intern had left to go to another job around 2:30PM.
I was exhausted from the busy day and after getting just the wood stove going, pulling shades, eating supper, I went to bed after watching a Christmas movie.
On Friday my #1 intern and my general helper will be out sometime in the morning to finish the lights and garlands and maybe get some ornaments on. My helper friend will be here at 8AM and I need the kitchen cleaned up and have prepped for him to make a Swiss chard-Bacon casserole.
So another busy day.
