Yo! I I just got my creative powers back. Haha! I have been doing a lot of science recently, struggling to get by on the first few weeks of grad school. As a comeback post, here is my entry to Sir 's Draw Me an Avatar Contest.
So you see, I got a few tricks up my sleeve. I didn't mention this in my introductory post because I don't do this on a regular basis, it falls under the random category. And the thing is, I actually do caricatures of people.
Here's one I did for myself:
The colors are a little bit messy because I am not really used to adding color on my works. But I put colors on this one anyway, so it's not that clean (Hehe!)
I do my sketches in the digital art form. The program that I use is Adobe Phoshop CS6, with the pen and brush tools. I don't usually sketch my ideas on paper prior because I think I might have lost my pulse on that skill although I did a little sketching as a kid. I now find it more convenient working directly in the computer. (Note this: I don't use a drawing pad or anything. Just my mouse. ;) )
Here are the initial layers of as shown in photoshop:
My style is mostly line art. My preference is kinda fixated on the idea of the simplicity of lines but when they come together they form a highly detailed complex work of art.
Here's a screencap showing the details.
Like I have said above, I don't usually put color in my work. I like my artworks in monotone however emphasized by line play (variations on the thickness of line).
Finally, here is the finished product, my take on :
Woohoo! Unta maganahan ka, Sir! \m/
