Batangas is one of siesmically active areas in the Philippines an earthquake swarm is a burst of earthquake activity gathered in a specific area inna short period of time due to movement of a fault line.
April 8, 2017 a 5.6 and 6.0 magnitude earthquake felt in Mabini, Batangas at around 3:07 and followed by 3:09 in the afternoon according to the Relief Web as of April 11, 2017 there are total of 3 incidents was reported. Which two are landslide and 1 is ground rupture. A total of 6, 247 families were affected a total of 2,614 damage houses were reported in Batangas Province 506 were totally damage and 2, 108 were partially damage. This includes the total numbers of surrounding affected areas within Mabini, Batangas.
There are 62 evacuation site were serve and took as a temporary shelter for those families affected. Total of 6 injured casualties which 1 is from Mabini, 4 from Tingloy and 1 from Batangas City.
Philippine Red Cross Batangas Chapter was first on the scene that was able to provide relief and assistance immediately.The National Council has coordinated the Regional Council in CALABARZON to monitor the initial effect of the earthquake. An emergency meeting was held between the PDRRMC and Mabini Mayor Bitrics Luistro to discuss immediate needs of the community as the assessment of damages incurred from the earthquake
response team and equipment were prepositioned in Mabini, Batangas with other member agencies on possible
assistance.
