Used in times of war
The Aztec's are well renowned for being a brutally viscous people. With their belief in human sacrifice, and war mentality, they were a culture feared my many. When I came across this video, I wasn't expecting the sound that this "Death Whistle" produced.
They would use it in times of war as a scare tactic to instill fear, and intimidate their adversaries. So, a small number of them wielding these whistles would sound like a huge army approaching. I could only imagine the shear fright that was felt by the opposing side, with hundreds or even thousands of Aztec warriors screaming toward you. Knowing that your potential fate was hanging in the balance. Heart pounding, hands sweaty, and the understanding of you may never see what tomorrow has to bring.
It truly was a strange\obscure time that humans were living in.
