I recently gave birth to a baby Girl, she is so adorable, sleeps all night, well breastfed and "Good poo"!
Post pregnancy become difficult when baby cry all the time. This may sound grose! however, baby poop is one reason for crying baby. If the baby cant pass stools, they cry uncontrollably. Crying uncontrollable and irritability could also mean baby is Colic.
Mustard yellow, green and brown color are considered to be normal. New born pass watery stools, intestines takes time to absorb food most of it is excreted only after few months stool become thicker and less frequent.
If your baby is crying all the time, your babies could be Colic. Often this is the result of an allergy to milk protein (lactose intolerance) in formula-fed babies, and that's why doctors always recommend breastfeeding at least until 6 months. Some times, reaction to specific food in mom's diet in breastfed babies can also lead to colic.
What can parents do ?
Continue feeding your baby and make sure you are burping your baby for longer time.
Give hot water wash, this will relieve pain and sometime pass stool. ( I did this for my elder one, it always works)
Give hot water sponge on the tummy.
tip : applying Castor oil "you know where" also helps but not recommended
When to visit the doctor?
- has a weak, high-pitched, or continuous cry
- seems floppy when you pick them up
- isn't feeding
- vomits green fluid
- has blood in their poo
- has a temperature of 38C or above (if they're less than 3 months old) or you think they have a fever
- has a temperature of 39C or above (if they're 3 to 6 months old) or you think they have a fever
- has a bulging fontanelle (the soft spot at the top of a baby's head)
- has a fit (seizure)
- turns blue, blotchy, or very pale
- has breathing problems, such as breathing quickly or grunting while breathing
There is nothing to worry about, just act in time, do not ignore any symptoms, read and be aware.
Thanks !
