I have started making my own baby food as my baby turned five months. Youtube helped me since it has a lot of videos on what to do. I didn't know. I thought putting vegetables in a plain pot of boiling water was good enough, apparently it's not. Steamer is the way to go. I would first put hot water in the steamer pot and wait for it to boil. Then put my precut vegetables in. Don't forget about them on the stove. If you're in a hurry squash is the fastest and really delicious baby food. When it's ready put all the pieces in the blender and add a little of that boiled water or breastmilk. Squash already is a watery vegetable so if you add too much water it won't be a purée it'll be a soup and it'll be all mushy. Wait for the purée to cool and voila a beautiful and scrumptious baby food has been made.
