If you had asked me this 3-5 months ago, I would have shown you a big bag, almost like a satchel. It would also be heavy. My daughter would complain and ask what I have inside. I would tell her just the necessary things and a few more. When we go out shopping or anywhere she would carry my bag, complain that it is heavy but still do it. If her boyfriend (now husband), was with us, he would do it. So I was free and not feel its weight. Now that they are in the US my helper/companion or her husband carries it for me.
I love the big roomy ones. I don’t buy the imported branded ones. The imported branded ones that I do have were given to me by my daughter. But I buy the locally branded ones. I choose the ones that have a strong sturdy strap. Roomy inside with zippered areas. I also pick nice looking ones.
Here are some of my bags from 2014 (top picture) and then the additional ones. I also have smaller bag which I use when I go to church here. Big enough for a wallet, rosary, washcloth or tissues and my cell phone(s). Also some cosmetics like compact powder, lipstick and a small comb. I also use the smaller ones when I go around here or attend a party, I have those elegant party clutch bags too. But to me it seems useless when you can barely fit anything heheh. Seems like just for show.

So recently my daughter sent ma bag for mother’s day. It looked small but I noticed so many zippered areas. But then I also decide to lessen some of my stuff. Just bring the really important and necessary things. So here is what is inside my bag. The bag looks small the pink thing hanging at the strap is a “rape whistle”. You just press the button and a shrill alarm goes off so if anyone is following you or tries to attack you, they will get jolted and maybe someone will hear it. I also gave one to my daughter.

This is what is inside the 2 top pouches in front. My licenses, calling card holder and miscellaneous stuff. A religious bracelet. Hmm hairpins? I also have some safety pins, but can’t find them, maybe they got stuck at the bottom.

The top zipper contains my bankbooks, mirror and pictures. A few other small stuff. Some coupons and small prayer cards. Just things needed to be in reach and I know where they are.

The lower zipper has ballpens, a nail file, nail cutter, twissors or tweezers (who knows, you might need it). I also have some sugar-free candies. As a Diabetic I must have some on hand for emergencies, very important.

The back zipper holds my rosary, folded round fan, cell phone lenses and a small plastic bag for emergencies, if it gets used I put another one (you might need one). I think the safety pins were there too.

Now the side pockets. One side has my small alcohol and lotion. The other side has liniments, vicks vaporub and a small folding tool kit. It has a small flashlight heheh

This is how it looks inside. Kind of small and 2 pouches can fit inside. In the inside zipper there is my comb, keys, folding scissors clip and fan. Then the 2 pouches.

The violet pouch holds my cosmetics, Lipstick, lip balm, compact powder, lip and eye liner. Also roll-on and small spray perfume and lip gloss. Last, my hair tie. I also have a hair clamp which I clamp on the bag strap.
The other pouch hold my toiletries. Feminine wipes and sanitary napkins. Also wet wipes for the hands. It keeps them neat and I can just carry the pouch if needed.

It doesn’t seem much and not that heavy when you look at it.
But before I go out I still have a few more things to add. My wallet (the most important), my cell phones, my eyeglasses and a small wash cloth. I prefer a wash cloth than handkerchiefs or just tissue. They absorb more. And if I need to I can wet it and use it.

The only thing that can’t fit in the bag is my tablet. Oh I also have a pocket Wi-Fi. I have to carry an extra pouch for my tablet, charger and power bank.

Maybe someday I might still lessen some of my things but so far this is what I think I need. I used to have more things but I forgot what they were. I would empty my bag when I come home so I can throw away tissues, paper and other stuff I threw in. I think this most common for most women especially those carrying big bags. I saw some carry bottled waters in their bags. Some even extra underwear and even blouses. Hmm I thought I was the only one carrying so much. Now if you have an infant or small child, and extra bag is need for their things.
I feel happy and contended with the things in my bag so far. Even when I put the eyeglasses and wallet inside, there is still a little room left. The cell phones go into the inside pouches. It is not as heavy as before. Maybe in December I might buy a new bag for Christmas. Hopefully something in the medium size. Hmm need to save more because a good quality bag cost 1000 pesos and up if not on sale. I sometimes buy them on sale but still good quality.
