According to the 2017 Online Trust Audit & Honor Roll (OTA), 65% of US Banks failed their online security test and only 27% of the US Banks qualified the test and honor as Secure Online Banks in 2017.
Moreover the OTA report revealed that 55% of the US Banks earned honor roll in 2016, which means 2017 (this year) result is significantly lower most likely due to major site crashes and data breaches that occurred in 2017.
According to the OTA report of 2017, the whole US financial industry seems to lag behind when it comes to overall security. It raises red flags for consumers whether to trust online services with their sensitive information, specially when it involves financial transactions.
