FC Barcelona held its ordinary meeting of the Senate, the honorary and consultative body outlined in the Club’s statutes, made up of the one thousand longest-serving members. The meeting was attended by 328 senators and took place at the Auditori 1899. It was chaired by Club president Joan Laporta, accompanied by his vice presidents Rafael Yuste, Elena Fort, and Antonio Escudero, along with other members of the Board of Directors.
In his report, Laporta reviewed the accomplishments made during his more than four years in office. He highlighted that the Board of Directors had successfully achieved five main objectives: increasing revenue, reducing expenses, protecting the member-based ownership model, avoiding financial recovery at the members’ expense, and restoring joy to the Club’s fans — all coinciding with the celebration of FC Barcelona’s 125th anniversary.
After thanking the members for their support during what he described as a season of "struggling against everything and everyone," Laporta expressed that he felt Barça fans were smiling once again and proud of their club. “Barça fans are smiling again; they are proud and happy,” he said. He described the season as "historic, but not perfect," and praised sporting director Deco and head coach Hansi Flick as key figures behind the club's success.
The president also emphasized the great value of having a young and talented squad, most of whom emerged from La Masia academy, in addition to other quality players brought in from outside. Laporta confirmed that the Club is once again on solid financial footing and pledged to continue working so that no future board would have to endure what his has in restoring financial stability.
In this regard, he announced that these efforts have enabled FC Barcelona to now comply with financial fair play regulations, allowing the Club to operate freely in the summer transfer window under the 1:1 rule.
Concerning the return to Spotify Camp Nou, Laporta clarified that this is not merely a renovation, but the construction of an entirely new stadium. He confirmed that the Club plans to return and play there on August 10 for the Joan Gamper Trophy. Regarding the season ticket system for members, he explained that the model used at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys would continue in the next phase, with more details to be provided in due course.
The president’s speech was broadcast live on Barça One, followed by speeches from vice president for the sporting area Rafael Yuste, and vice president for the institutional area Elena Fort. The meeting concluded with an open Q&A session, allowing senators to ask questions and share their thoughts.
