new signature On Tuesday, Marcos Alonso was introduced as a new member of the Barcelona team. The 31-year-old, who comes from Chelsea to Camp Nou, has pledged to deliver success and is hoping to win over the supporters during his brief tenure.
"I'm thrilled to have the chance to be a member of this outstanding team. The left-back stated after the presentation, "I've wanted this ever since my Dad brought me to the Camp Nou. (h/t MARCA)"
I'm eager to succeed here and win over the audience. We will all benefit from the success.
Alonso is Barcelona's eighth season-opening signing after the additions of Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christesen, Franck Kessie, Pablo Torre, and Hector Bellerin. His one-year contract with Blaugrana has a release clause set at €50 million.
The seasoned full-back described his contributions by saying he is eager to assist young people wherever feasible.
"I can help the kids since I have experience. I am also capable of putting in a free kick, as the President indicated.
The left-back appeared, to put it mildly, to be very emotional.
He had already teamed up with several Barcelona players for the national team, and he appeared confident enough to do it once more.
"I already knew a few of the National Team guys. The team's performance hasn't surprised me in the least. The left-back expressed his desire for happiness and for the team to perform at its highest potential.
"In addition to dreaming, we must work hard and make many sacrifices. Success and joy will come in that manner.
For Marcos Alonso, representing Barcelona is a deeply personal experience because his father, Marcos Alonso Pena, wore the club's regal colors for six arduous years, winning one league championship and one Copa de Rey.
"My dad was a special individual. In this team, I want to blaze my own trail. I have to put in a lot of effort to gain a spot on the team because I'm starting from scratch," said the left-back.
