How can space tourism be set to explode while we are a mere 5 or so years away from the beginning of massive layoffs? How could a family of 4, with both parents on UBI, afford a space journey? Virgin Galactic seat worth $250,000!
There you go, billionaire entrepreneurs Richard Branson, Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk. Each has launched a private space company touting space exploration for the 1%. Yes, the very same 1% that has caused the global economic turmoil may finance UBI. How serious is this? The 1% spend and will continue to spend between themselves.
As for space mining, let's get real for a minute. Anybody able to extract for 5 trillion worth of gold/platinum from whatever asteroid, and bring it back on earth would cause a systemic precious metal prices collapse as the offer would exceed by far the demand. Well, the upside is that would be an insightful lesson since it would reveal that the value cannot be stretched on grand scale. That value of money will forever remain subjective, which is why we have booms and busts.
The Outer Space Treaty of 1967? Just ask you this... has any world trade agreement ever worked in favor of the people? So this time again, why would it be different, when the trade agreements have put us on the edge in the first place and now plotting the demise of the world as we know it?
CONCLUSION: it is sad to read an article like this one, some people obviously can write really whatever for a paycheck, because UBI sells to the masses who would follow any carrot and a stick to have some security. Look again at the picture above, this is what a UBI-sponsored-citizen will be looking like ... while the very few will have a good time traveling space drinking champagne -- and smiling at Earth in the background.
