Back in the mid 90's if an NBA player who is 6'6" pulled off the East Bay Funk Dunk in the NBA dunk contest that was super impressive and had the potential to win. Now there are 6' 2" high schoolers throwing down the dunk in the game with a defender chasing them down!!!! That is unreal. I have been following this Mac McClung's game since the summertime. He has unreal bounce and rumor has it he has a 47" vertical!!!
What is an an additional insane thing about this team is there are 3 guys putting down multiple in game dunks. That is unreal. Back in Indiana where I am from there would be 1 or maybe 2 kids on a high school team that could dunk and typically you wouldn't see dunks in a game. Maybe one dunk would be put down over the course of 10 games and it was sort of a major thing when it happened. Same thing here in Arizona. I will end up playing against some of these high schoolers in the off season and once in awhile you will see one that can dunk and usually they are 6'4 or taller.
It is tough to have the opening to take it to the rack without getting fouled or slowed down. A lot of times your are winded enough that it takes enough off your jump that while a person might be able to dunk in practice or warmups but hard to pull it off when your are tired and the game is getting intense.
These kids are putting on an unreal dunk show!
I would say this has to be a top 3 high school dunks this year and for sure in the running for #1 dunk. Zion Williamson has put down some sick dunks this year for sure but he has more height but he has pulled off 360 dunks. Mac has more hang time in some respects because of his height.
Mac has already committed to Georgetown! It will be interesting to see how his game develops over the years. I like his jumpshot and his agility and speed. He has several tools not just his jumping ability.
