The off-season is not completely dead yet as some news other than the Carmelo Anthony's situation. has hit. And man it's some juicy news!
Kyrie requests trade
With Kyrie being locked up with his contract until 2019, he has requested a trade from the Cleaveland front office. One of the main reasons for his trade is apparently because of Lebron James. The feeling is that he wants his own team where he is the main guy rather than playing second fiddle to one. After losing convincingly in the NBA finals just recently to the Warriors, maybe Kyrie just doesn't believe the Cavs have enough to beat them. With so many rumors also surrounding the fact that Lebron is likely to leave Cleaveland a second time as he will be a free agent at the end of the next season. Maybe Kyrie can just see the writing on the wall and is trying to get off the boat before it starts sinking. LeBron intends to let the Cavs front office take the lead with Kyrie Irving's demands as he remains focused on the upcoming season regardless of who his teammates are going to be.
Some possibilitites
the San Antonio Spurs are a team Irving has apparently listed as a preferred trade destination. He also added the Miami Heat, New York Knicks and Minnesota Timberwolves as teams he would be interested in. With Kyrie Irving still being only 25 years old he still has so much to offer to any team. An NBA star running away from LeBron James and toward the Knicks is an actual possibility as ridiculous as it sounds. Signing with the Spurs could be a very interesting move as I am very curious to see what would happen if someone on the level of Kyrie goes under the wing of in my personal opinion the greatest coach the NBA has ever seen in Gregg Popovich.
Other news
Pau Gasol has agreed to a three-year deal to return to the San Antonio Spurs. Pau had a solid season for the Spurs and has decided to return to and probably plans to end his career with the team.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are likely to promote Koby Altman to general manager permanently. Altman has been serving in the role of interim. He previously worked as the assistant general manager and is the only option left following the departure of David Griffin. The Cavs previously tried to hire Chauncey Billups this offseason.
Carmelo Anthony insists he does not want to play for the Knicks in the upcoming season as time is running out for the Knicks to make a deal to move Carmelo. Hearing this as a Knicks fan hurts a little but who can blame the man after how the franchise treated him the previous season, no star deserves what happened to him and I hope for his sake he finds success wherever he ends up.
