Once again I fear we're coming to the end of a VERY short-lived spell of 'summer' weather here in Scotland. With our weather rarely reliable we have to make the most of whatever sunshine we get so last week my family and I made a little impromptu visit to Ayr beach.
Situated on the south-west coast of Scotland, Ayr beach is only about an hour from where I live so perfect for a family day trip.
We built sandcastles, paddled in the sea (the water was surprisingly warm for a change) and had a picnic before getting a cheeky ice cream!
The kids had an amazing time and was great to see them playing on the sand so happy and carefree - that was until we buried them. They were however quite happy to stay in the sand for a good 10 minutes and even completely relaxed and finished their juice in there!
I love the beach and ideally would like to live closer to the coast. There's something about the the texture of the sand or that fresh, salty sea air that just puts the rest of your life into perspective.
Maybe one day :)
