Potipot island is very different from the more popular beach destinations in the Philippines. Located 42 Kilometers from the capital of Zambales, it can be reached via a 3-4 hours drive and 15 minutes boat ride from Manila.
Here's why I think Potipot is different:
Unadulterated
Being a very small island, about 7.5 hectares in total, the concrete structure are kept at the very minimal. These are mostly decent toilets to ensure privacy and hygiene. Generally speaking, the island is undeveloped which I think is the best part. There are volunteer care-takers who try their hardest to keep the island clean and in order. The people visiting the island’s been cooperative enough in “leaving no trace”.
Chill
There's less noise in comparison to the parties of Boracay or Puerto Galera. No loud musics, no busy restaurants, no wild and exciting water sports. Just plain you, your friends and family, and the beauty of nature to appreciate and be one with.
Disconnects and Let's You Really Connect
It gets difficult to get a stable cellular signal in the islet, much less data connection. This forces you to remove yourself from your likely worrisome and stressful life at work. No conference calls with clients in your boardshorts, no false emergencies about the crashing stocks of your company, not even another fork of BTC/ETH can bother you. Playing cards while making fun of each other, building your tents, and cooking your meals as a group are just some of the activities you can do to really connect.
