For the previous update on my Hive and Hive finances goals and progress check out:
@tdctunes/4-months-on-hive-update-and-goals-for-january-and-for-2022
I've been on Hive 5 months now... and I hope you've got a coffee because this is a super detailed update on where I'm at with my goals - both for the last month and looking at progress against my goals for all of 2022!
Finances Update
So as you'll see below - my Hive Power is still enjoying steady growth due to keeping up posting, commenting and participating in power up days and power up months.
My weekly earnings are back up again from a low last month. Some notes on what's changed:
- I dialled down my playing of
in early January as I found I was getting a bit too obsessive about it! However I kept doing the millionaire mission and have since added back in 2-3 big missions per day so I've re-added it to my reporting - especially since I also released this is one of my best ways of generating regular income! I seem to have found a happy balance now and seem to be able to generate about 15,000 Starbits a day based on being level 70, with 700 cards, 47,000 fans and 1 million Starbits on Hive engine for the millionaire mission.
- I've been posting and commenting pretty intensely due to power up months plus really trying to increase my engagement. So post rewards are looking great.
- Hive got cheaper again! This means that some of the things that generate income in other tokens (2nd layer, HBD) got more valuable when accounting (as I do) for everything in terms of Hive. This of course could easily reverse if (when?!) Hive goes back up.
Hive Holdings
Ok here's where I'm at compared to the previous two months:
| 9 December | 7 January | 8 February | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hive Power | 5619 | 5814 | 6556 |
| HBD | 67.4 | 97.6 | 10.6 |
Earnings - per week (in Hive)
| Source | 9 December | 7 January | 8 February |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rising Star | 16.72 | ?1 | 23.8 |
| Diesel Pools | 4.459 | 3.08 | 12.5 (69-180% APR) |
| Post Rewards | 39 | 14.7 | 38.9 |
| Curation | 7.9 | 7.1 | 7.35 (6.7% APR) |
| Hive Drips - Utopis | ? | ? | 1.4 2 |
| Hive Drips - Sim | ? | ? | 1.7 |
| Hive Drips - BXT | ? | ? | 3.6 |
| Hive Drips - DHedge/Archon/Income | ? | ? | 0.15 3 |
| Total | 74.3 | 28.6 | 89.4 |
Notes:
1 I didn't record a figure for Rising Star income for early January, though I was still running the millionaire mission most days.
2 I've now split out Utopis, Sim and BXT earnings as these 3 seem to be the best 2nd layer tokens I've found for passively generating liquid Hive.
3 This is an estimate for the Hive generated per week from my DHedge, Archon and Income holdings. DHedge and Archon generate a tiny bit of liquid hive (though it all adds up) but are of course generating me various other 2nd layer tokens - I'm currently not recording the value of those in terms of my income but it probably amounts to another couple of Hive per week. Income is something I'm new to and only bought a very small amount - it does pay liquid Hive but it's based on a draw rather than being a regular drip. So far I think I've seen 0.05 Hive come from it about 3 times per week so we will see over the next month how that performs.
Goals Update
From last time my goals were:
Post another update in February!
Here it is!Complete Hive Power Up Month - #HivePUM for January 2022
Yes! Done - and I'm sure this has really helped me to focus on both building both my Hive Power and my reputation through posting and/or powering up every day. I also did #HivePUD in both January and February, plus #HivePUH for both too!Run a giveaway (on Hive).
I've experimented with running 3 different giveaways/competitions as follows:
- A Hive Basic Income giveaway in return for pre-saving my new track or a much bigger one for pre-ordering it on cassette. This got ZERO takers! Absolutely none whatsoever! Maybe Hive Basic Income seems a bit too abstract and people don't get it? Or maybe people just saw this offer as too much like me trying to sell something? Or maybe they are just really against pre-saving or pre-ordering. I'm not totally sure but obviously that offer is one that didn't work. I do still think HBI is a good thing. I've got 127 units right now and that seems to mean I get a vote of 0.047 on all my posts (I post on average once per day). The thing is - that's FOR LIFE - which seems great to me! So I don't think I'm done yet with using HBI as a potential giveaway or prize (just not for a pre-save/pre-order next time!)
- 1 $PIZZA in return for signing up for my email newsletter. It seemed to me that this was WAY less generous than the previous offer and I didn't expect much from it, and yet 3 people took me up on it! Awesome!
- Guess the number of cables I have for my modular competition. The prize for this is a copy of the cassette mixtape my new track is on PLUS a refurbished Sony Walkman to play it on. Now I think this is a pretty great prize and hopefully a fun competition to enter too so this one is doing pretty well with 14 participants so far. I had planned this competition for some time as part of this release and was going to run it on Instagram/Twitter as well but when it came to it I thought - nah... I'm just going to run it on Hive! This one is STILL running and you have till 12:00 UTC Friday to enter if you didn't already! Let's see if we can get nearer to 20 participants!
ENTER THE COMPETITION TO WIN THE BELOW PRIZE >>
I think I've probably only scratched the surface for competitions and giveaways. I've never done these things before on any platform so I likely have a lot to learn about what works and what doesn't work. So watch out for some more experiments from me in this area - and let me know which are good and which are not so good!
- Make some improvements to my completely passive income sources.
I've put quite a bit of thought into this in the last month and in particular have increased/bought:
- My holdings in the various
Diesel Pools. There are other pools but the PIZZA ones tend to have really excellent APRs and I like the PIZZA community and everything going on there!
- BRO, UTOPIS, DHEDGE, ARCHON, BXT and INCOME. Not all drip liquid Hive but they all seem to bring something to the table in terms of passive income.
Next Goals for February
I'm going to be away for a significant portion of February, and am probably going to have a good break from posting/online activity so I expect things to dip a fair bit again for next time. I think that's ok - a holiday is needed sometimes! So my goals are going to be taking that into account:
Continue gradually building my HP
Continue gradually building my passive earning HE tokens and (importantly) understanding them and their relative pros and cons!
Have a break from posting when I'm on holiday later this month! (you see - I've given myself permission to have a rest!)
Post another update in March
Progress against goals for 2022
- Increase my Hive Power to 10,000HP
With the drop in Hive price recently I managed to pick up a fair bit of Hive at what seemed like "cheap" prices. Because of this I'm looking in good shape to meet this goal. I will go slowly and consider carefully what to power up and when vs. investing in other HE tokens but currently it looks like I'll be able to grow my HP steadily this year and sitting at 6556 HP already in early February this goal is looking easier than it did in January!
- Increase my followers to 250
This is also looking pretty achievable, hopefully ahead of schedule as I'm on 175 already. I don't think followers are the be all and end all on Hive and I'm not hung up on this number particularly. I mainly picked this goal because I wanted to give myself the extra encouragement to make a lot of effort with engagement. And indeed I have been making more effort at engaging with others posts/comments - which brings so many more benefits than (potentially) more followers.
- Weekly earnings of 100 Hive
On the face of it this seems pretty in reach with my current weekly earnings sitting at 89.4 Hive.
However, that was after a month of making extra effort at posting and engaging and with the price of Hive "low". I could be a lot busier with other things in future months and the Hive price could easily go up significantly (affecting the value of other earnings when put in Hive terms).
So, this could easily go back down to 20-30 Hive per week where it was in January. I think there is a long way to go to get this number "secure" (maybe that's not even possible?). We will see in the coming months!
