Good ol Olympic square. Dalian's tribute to the their favourite sporting event hiding a huge underground mall with the biggest Walmart I've ever been to.
Dalian is mostly built with the idea they will bombed heavily in the event of any war so many underground places exists throughout the city. Many of the under complexes have since been converted into shopping malls and clubs and restaurants.
These were once used out of fear have now been transformed into a Beautiful Place place where people get to spend their money making them happy.
There are some soccer fields you can rent out when leagues aren't playing. That huge shopping mall Olympic 66 is probably the newest mall in the city having only been open less than a year. It's not a mall for the average shopper, this place is mostly big brand names. It has fake skating rink too.
It's hot out here during noon. Lots of sun not much shade. Getting a good photo without umbrellas and bottles hiding in the shade was impossible.
The Entrance
This place goes down about 30 meters 2-3 floors of shopping and eating. Walmart takes up a significant part and has 2 floors.
I will save that for a future post.
And just across the street are some small castle replicas. One of them has a Disney school I think it is. I wonder if Disney knows. Some small businesses and shops line walkways no cars allowed.
It's one of Dalian's most recognizable places. Most travellers make it here for some photos and nearby are many great restaurants including western ones that the expats go to.
