I've always been facinated with honeybees. Read the ABC's Beekeeping book back when I was 12 but never had the funds to buy a beehive. Well finally this year I bought a beehive and some bees. After about 3 months they are thriving like no other!
Right now my hive has 2 deep broods. This will enable them to store honey and make more bees in preparation for their first winter.
After my hive inspection yesterday I plan to add a queen excluder (keeps the queen from going up and laying eggs) and a medium box ontop so that I can get some honey and extract it come mid September.
Looking into adding a Raspberry Pi with temperature sensor and possibly an IR camera to get a live stream going.
