I found a third huckleberry beer to try! Like the previous brew, this one is from Idaho, and this time, it's another Wallace Brewing Company product. How does it stack up against that cream ale or the huckleberry lager?
This is billed as a shandy, a blend of beer and fruit juice or soda. Lemon or sometimes other citrus juices are typical for shandy. This includes lemon juice and huckleberry. The previous beers used huckleberries as an addition to the usual beer brewing process instead. I think that explains the more watery consistency of this drink as well as the much lower 3.25% abv. There is a distinct prickly carbonation feel on my tongue, but it doesn't have the body of a proper beer in my opinion. I also taste almost no huckleberry here. If it weren't on the label, I would only know there was something else in addition to the lemonade.
This does not earn my recommendation. The other two are better options if you want huckleberries. There are also other beers from Wallace Brewing that I did like, but this is joining the Vindicator IPA I tried a week or so ago on the "no, thanks" list.
