As I already mentioned in my introduceyourself post (https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@mdosev/hello-everyone), I'm a homebrewer from Bulgaria and I love making beer and experimenting with beer!
Today I desicet to brew a Single Hop Pale Ale with only Citra hops! Every time I mash out the liquid I have to decide what to do with the already used malts... Sometimes I give them to a friend, who has chickens, and uses the malts to feed them, but now I thought if it will be a good idea if I use the malts to make malt-crackers.
I decided to use about 1 kilogram of wet malts and mix them with some flour, trying to achieve dough-like mixture. and instead of water i put in one bottle of Smoked Porter homemade beer! Yes... One of my beers! What a coffee-chocolate like aroma it has! It's a pity it was just the last bottle of this Smoked Porter, because it was so delicious!
I also added a little bit of salt just to enhance flavours... After that I put the mixture on a cooking paper and tried to form thin pieces. Next of course comes the cooking - 20-30 minutes in the oven at about 200 degrees! And bingo! The crackers were ready. Very nice salty flavour with a little bit of stout aroma! Loved them.
I found out, that it's better to cook them at around 30-35 minutes! They become so crispy. Definitely will try again this recipe! Don't waste already used malts... There are various ways to reuse them and making crackers is just one of them! Cheers!!!
