Carlton & United Breweries, Australia
Alcohol Content:
4.5%
Beer Type:
Lager
History:
In 1864, an English immigrant, Edward Latham, opened the Carlton Brewery. In 1907, the Carlton Brewery amalagamated with the McCracken, Victoria, Shamrock, Foster’s and Castlemaine breweries. And so began the story of CUB (Carlton & United Breweries) which today is one of the world’s largest brewing companies.
According to the official website, Carlton Dry has an exceptional dry finish that has been achieved through an extended brewing process, creating a smoother, drier beer that has 30% less carbohydrates than other full strength beers. The Carlton dry logo emphasises the most recognisable and loved elements of the Carlton tradition, such as the iconic Clydesdales and the brand's historic founding in 1864. Source

Drinkers Review:
Carlton Dry is one of those 'Low Carbohydrate' beers thats marketed as having a smooth, dry finish. As a mass produced lager from one of the big Aussie breweries, this beer is quite nice after a hard days work. It is a crisp dry lager that tastes slightly better and is more refreshing than the regular Carlton draught. There is a slight sweetness to the initial taste but it's disappointing there is no hop flavour or aroma. Very watery mouthfeel that is typical of lower carb beers. A cheap man’s afternoon beer if you're looking for something to wet a dry, parched mouth after a long days work.
