Beer Review - #24 - Cascade Premium Lager
Brewed by:
Cascade Brewery, Hobart, Tasmania
Alcohol Content:
4.5%
Beer Type:
Pale Lager
History:
Cascade Premium Lager is the original premium beer from Tasmania. Brewed in Australia's oldest operating brewery, Cascade PremiumLager is the full-strength alternative to the brewery’s Premium Light. Cascade Brewery was established in 1832 and is Australia’s oldest continually operating brewery. The brewery is rare in that it produces its own malting for its mainstream beers from locally grown barley.
Availability:
Cascade Premium Lager is available for purchase in:
330 mL bottles, 375 mL cans
Drinkers Review:
Not to be confused with that other, much better Tasmanian Premium Lager, here is a Tasmanian lager whose main selling point is that it’s a lager from Tasmania. It has a terrible orange body with no head and an aroma of lemon-soaked particle board. The flavour is a nonexistent mess of water with a horrendous aftertaste of burnt rubber, AKA hops used poorly in the brewing process. A macro-premium lager that is actually offensive to the palate. If you are after a ‘Premium beer’ then my suggestion is not this one. In my opinion, it is one of the worst brews produced by this centuries old brewery.
