Australian Beer
In keeping with Aussie tradition and keeping the focus on the amber liquid, this is the next instalment of the Australian Beer Review in support of #teamaustralia members.
The aim of reviewing beer here is to share thoughts on beer types and spread the word on the goodness that we produce in this great country of ours.
Beer Review - #5 - Cascade Stout
Brewed by:
Cascade Brewery, Hobart, Tasmania
Alcohol Content:
5.8%
Beer Type:
Foreign Stout
History:
Cascade Stout is brewed in Australia's oldest operating brewery. Formally called Cascade 'Export' Stout, it is brewed using all natural ingredients, the heroes being the rich roasted barley and Cascade's unique traditional yeast strain. This stout is a favourite amongst brewers at Cascade because of its toffee and caramel notes. Source
Availability:
Cascade Stout is available for purchase in:
- 375 mL bottles
- 750 mL 'long-necks'
Drinkers Review:
Pours a jet black with a thin, short-lived tan head. Has a nice nutty flavour. It is very moreish, with interesting flavours of chocolate and dark fruit. This beer looks tacky, but don't judge it by its cover. It's got an amazing rich quality of a stout without being too overpowering and with a light mouth-feel so every gulp goes down smooth. This is a true Tassie beer that will put a smile on your face and keep you warm in the winter. One of my all time favourites.
