Beer School has got to be more fun than normal school and I am about to show you how. First off, pull up a beer. There. Better already!
Because I have loved beer so much for so long, and the reputation I have to keep as the hive Blockchain Beerologist, I try and never stop learning new things about beer. The first thing you learn is that it is a pretty fun buzz and makes for crazy parties. From there, it is quite a classic science and art in one frothy mug. Let us learn and discuss.
The Classroom
One of the best ways to learn about beer is to regularly visit the tap rooms at as many craft breweries as you can. The ones in your home town deserve to be visited regularly as I like to do with the ones in town. This particular one is https://heritagehopsbrew.com/ which actually gave me the inspiration for the Beer School post.
Class is in Session
I popped in for a quick pint between errands and found beer school in session as they were training the new guy! See him sampling and taking notes? A quick study! Nicole knows I am a world famous beer blogger solely because of Hive and invited me to add feedback to her lesson! Probably because the customer is always right!
21 Haze
I learned a few things as well! A few of them were about this 21 Haze East Coast IPA https://heritagehopsbrew.com/products/21-haze-east-coast-ipa which I have featured a few times over the years.
East vs West
First of all, what distinguishes West Coast IPA from East Coast IPA. There are many intricacies with the different hops and malts with the ever evolving progress of IPAs which are so popular lately. A gross oversimplification for the uninitiated as an intro lesson, I find West Coast IPAs more bitter, dry and occasionally darker in hue while East Coast IPAs, while they boast the same high IBU, tend to be sweeter and finish a little more smoothly. Sometimes even citrussy.
It's all in the Name
Specifically about this brew, the 21 is significant because the beer takes 21 days to go from grain to glass (to brew!) and the address of the brewery is located at 21 Market Place. The Haze is doubly significant obviously because it is a rather hazy brew but also because the daughter of the brew master is named Hazel! Sweet story for a sweet brew.
Cheers to discovering great pints like we do on #BeerSaturday and to learning about beer with the Blockchain Beerologist. Tune in next time for some more delicious details about the nectar of the gods.
