Getting an early start on this week's #beersaturday!
For today's brew, I'm going to be enjoying another local brew, by Institution Ale Company called, Vacancy IPA.
Now, something about Institution Ale Co. and these fancy cans. They highlight a feature on my alma mater, CSU Channel Islands called the "Bell Tower". Another interesting fact about this building and campus is that it was formerly the Camarillo State Mental Hospital (hence the name Institution Ale). Another tidbit: many people say the song "Hotel California" is about Camarillo State Hospital. That's an entirely other story we could get into but another time I suppose! Now, to the beer!
First off, this beer has a beautiful color. And, if you choose to purchase some and bring it home from the tasting room, the only options are a growler, or 4 pack of 16oz. cans! 16 ounces each? Don't mind if I do!
Now, the taste... Oh, deliciously dry hopped goodness! This beer is amazing. One drawback - I did have more than one (of course). However, if you drink directly from the can, you can taste a bit of the metal. I definitely recommend pouring into a fancy pants glass. I definitely recommend anyone in the southern California area try out anything from Institution, but especially Vacancy!
To round out this post, here's another pic that I just can't seem to rotate 😂
And here's an old picture of the Bell Tower when it was the old mental hospital.
