That's right. I'm getting ready for Beer Saturday 242 since I missed this week's contest, hosted by@detlev.
Unleash the Ranger
I got this bad boy at the local carry out after work. As for IPAs it's not very bitter but it is listed as imperial so you know it packs a punch. 9% ABV. That being said
It's just
OK
It has a fruity smell. It starts off with some bitterness but ends with a fruity sweet finish. The bitterness is really low and doesn't last. The sweet/juicy finish definitely is the flavor forward component of this beer.
Here is what the the Brewer "New Belgium Brewing Company" had to say
"Our Voodoo Ranger family is brewed with trendsetting hop and malt varieties—and served with a side of sarcasm. Let’s just say Voodoo Ranger doesn’t take himself too seriously, and neither should you. The bottom line: if you’re looking for innovative IPAs that are hop forward, bold, and occasionally hazy, the Voodoo Ranger fam has your back."
Whenever a company tells you one of it's brands shouldn't be taken seriously, I think we need to listen to them.
It's not a beer that is going to win any awards for flavor, smell, or taste but overall it has a good mix of hops and an attempt at a balanced flavor. It still passes the test vs any US Domestic watered down beer IMO. Plus, it's rather inexpensive and does have that high ABV!
